If you have friends and family over and don’t have time to make a cake, why not decorate some shop-bought chocolate eggs?

  • 6 small chocolate eggs
  • 1 large chocolate egg
  • 200g (7oz) royal icing sugar, sifted
  • Green, yellow and pink concentrated food colourings
  • A selection of sugar flowers (from larger supermarkets)
  • A little edible glue (optional)

Make up a little royal icing sugar, according to the instructions on the packet, to give a piping consistency.

Fiona says

You could also make your own flowers using ready-to-roll coloured sugarpaste, which is widely available in the baking aisles of larger supermarkets.

Divide into little bowls and add a few drops of food colouring into each to create the desired colours.

Place in small piping bags fitted with No 1 piping nozzles, or just snip a small hole in the ends, then pipe your design onto the eggs (see right for inspiration).

Attach sugar flowers using edible glue or a dab of royal icing.
