If you haven’t made an Easter treat yet, get cracking on one of these simple yet stunning bakes from Fiona Cairns.
Fiona suggests decorating shop-bought chocolate eggs if you don’t have time to make a cake this Easter
If you have friends and family over and don’t have time to make a cake, why not decorate some shop-bought chocolate eggs?
- 6 small chocolate eggs
- 1 large chocolate egg
- 200g (7oz) royal icing sugar, sifted
- Green, yellow and pink concentrated food colourings
- A selection of sugar flowers (from larger supermarkets)
- A little edible glue (optional)
Make up a little royal icing sugar, according to the instructions on the packet, to give a piping consistency.
You could also make your own flowers using ready-to-roll coloured sugarpaste, which is widely available in the baking aisles of larger supermarkets.
Divide into little bowls and add a few drops of food colouring into each to create the desired colours.
Place in small piping bags fitted with No 1 piping nozzles, or just snip a small hole in the ends, then pipe your design onto the eggs (see right for inspiration).
Attach sugar flowers using edible glue or a dab of royal icing.
