One person was killed and at least nine others were injured at a birthday party early Sunday in Washington D.C. when gunfire broke out in a residential neighborhood, according to reports.
The deadly shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Dubois Place in the Greenway neighborhood of Southeast Washington, news station WTOP reported.
“You had DJs, everybody was down there. It was more women than men,” said resident Nelson Bostic, who said the gathering had been a birthday celebration.
“Next thing you know, it was like Beirut out here. It sounded like machine guns and everything else that was going on out here.”
There was an unidentified man killed in the shooting, while nine others were brought to various hospitals for treatment for gunshot wounds, news station WUSA reported.
It’s unclear what the motive was behind the shooting. No arrests have been announced.
