Samsung has just announced a range of new Galaxy Watch smartwatches, but don’t be fooled by this year’s update to the Galaxy Watch Ultra that first came out in 2024. Apart from a new blue titanium colour option and 64GB storage up from 32GB, the ‘new’ Ultra is identical to the original.
Samsung is charging £599 for the slightly updated model, but right now there are much better prices on the Galaxy Watch Ultra with 32GB storage – more than enough for plenty of apps and some music storage.
The best price for this device can be found at Argos, where it is on sale for £399. The retailer says this is its “lowest ever price”.
At the time of writing it’s available in orange, grey or white strap options with varying watch body colours.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra has the most hardware and software features of any Samsung smartwatch, complete with a ‘quick button’ that can launch apps or you can programme to do other things. It’s more robust with a rugged body and strap design, plus dual-frequency GPS and Samsung’s BioActive sensor to track your vital signs, from heart rate to heart rate variability, skin temperature to bloody oxygen.
Battery life is also decent – if your expectation is one day. This watch can do two, but it’s still not a patch on the five days of the OnePlus Watch 3.

The GPS can track your runs, but the Ultra is also set for cycling, swimming, skiing, kayaking or windsurfing too. It’s the best option if you live for the outdoors and own an Android phone – this wearable is not compatible with iPhones.
On-wrist navigation is also great, with turn-by-turn directions including altitude guidance, plus breadcrumb trail function so you can retrace your steps.
One thing to note is that, unlike similar Garmin watches or the Apple Watch Ultra, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is not rated for diving, which is a shame. Otherwise this is a fully featured smartwatch at a great price for the feature set.
It’s not clear how long this Argos deal will run for, but with Samsung updating the wearable for 2025, the original run of 32GB models will likely soon be in short supply.
