Double child murderer Ian Huntley has reportedly moaned about being “picked on” after his Manchester United-style shirt was seized by jail bosses. Ten-year-old girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were killed in 2002 by the school caretaker in Soham, Cambridgeshire, and were last seen alive wearing United shirts. Now, it has been revealed that Huntley was allegedly seen strutting around HMP Frankland in County Durham with a top that had a white number 10 on the back.
The inmate is thought to have ordered the plain red-coloured piece of clothing with a white number on the back from Sports Direct. Prisoners are not allowed to wear replica shirts of teams to avoid causing conflict inside. Huntley is serving two life sentences after being imprisoned for a minimum of 40 years. Now, it has been suggested that he has been “revelling in what happened”.
A source told The Sun: “They turned over Huntley’s cell and confiscated the shirt.”
They added that he “was moaning that he was being picked on and treated unfairly”.
“But neither the staff or other inmates had any sympathy and are pleased he can no longer taunt his victims and others by wearing the shirt,” the source also said.
Huntley’s own mother, Lynda Nixon, said after he began his sentence that the killer’s actions were “unforgivable”, and he should pay for them with his own life.
She added that she had thought Huntley was guilty because she “saw it in his eyes” when he was arrested.
“I truly wish we had capital punishment,” Ms Nixon said.
“I believe Ian should not live after what he’s done.”
She added: “He’s my baby boy and I love him but he deserves to be punished. He deserves to be strung up for what he’s done.
“I wish there was an electric chair in this country that they could put him in and that would be the end of it.”
Huntley’s partner at the time, Maxine Carr, was given a three-and-a-half-year sentence for conspiring to pervert the course of justice, but was cleared of two counts of assisting an offender.
Prison guards purportedly seized framed pictures of Huntley with Carr, during the search of his cell, as well as other items, including DVDs.
