CORONATION Street’s Nicola Thorp has quit the soap and won’t return as Nicola Rubinstein, it has been confirmed.
The actress and equality activist – who plays killer Pat Phelan’s daughter Nicola in the ITV soap – bowed out of the show last night and The Sun Online can reveal that it is a final exit, for now at least.

Nicola left the cobbles with baby Zack and step-mother Eileen Grimshaw to move to Bristol.
And while the door is being left open for a return, it won’t be any time soon.
A source said: “Nicola wanted her exit to play out on screen for viewers and while she is gone for now, the door has been left very much open for her to return.”
However, while Nicola has left the soap, actress Sue Cleaver has not so fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

The Sun Online can reveal that Sue has taken a well-deserved five week break after her heavy filming schedule over the last few years.
It’s now yet been revealed how or why her character Eileen will return from Bristol but it’s set to be explosive.
Following the double episode, actress Nicola posted an emotional farewell message, leaving some fans concerned it was goodbye forever.
Writing alongside a behind the scenes snap of herself, she gushed: “Thanks to the cast and crew and everyone at Coronation Street for making the cobbles feel like home this past year. I’m lucky to call you my friends.
