Following on from previous theories, it looks like Emma Brooker (played by Alexandra Mardell) has potential to be his secret daughter after all.
When Emma first arrived on Coronation Street there was speculation she was the secret offspring of Steve (Simon Gregson) and his old flame Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin).
Now, Alexandra has commented on the theories about her character – and she did not deny them.
Lorraine Kelly addressed the rumours today on her ITV programme as she interviewed Alexandra.
“There’s a lot of different layers to this girl I think,” the presenter began.
“Some people have even said she’s Steve and Fiona’s love child.”
Smiling, Alexandra replied: “Oh yes, I have heard that one.”
Lorraine then observed: “Kind of makes a little bit of sense you know you don’t look dissimilar. She’s so pretty and so are you.”
However, the host quickly put the subject of Emma’s parentage to bed.
She added: “But we can’t say anything about that, we’ll just put it in a box for now.”
“Yes, we shall,” Alexandra coyly replied.
So could Steve be getting a big shock somewhere down the line?
Viewers will have to wait and see.
Fiona was a hairdresser just like Emma, so perhaps it could be a subtle hint.
Meanwhile, Alexandra has been nominated for Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards.
The charismatic newcomer has earned herself plenty of fans.
But can the character hold down her man, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston)?
Unfortunately for poor Emma, it looks as though Chesney’s got blossoming feelings for Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).
Alexandra said of the situation: “She’s a bit worried because she’s seen the way he looks at Gemma and she wants to know she’s secure I guess.”
Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
