Comedian Tom Allen is set to replace Rhod Gilbert as the host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired, it was announced on Monday.
The 36-year-old funnyman’s new role was revealed during the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, and he admitted he can’t wait to host the spin-off show.
Gushing about the position, he said: ‘I’m excited and humbled to be joining this wonderful, much loved show as host.

‘I’m looking forward to analysing, satirising and, dare I say, celebrating the many “interesting” choices the candidates make during their Apprentice journey whilst gaining valuable insight into the business world.’
The show will see Tom talking with a panel of business gurus, celebrity fans and quick-witted comedians, as they discuss what went wrong for the contestants and advising on how they could improve next time around.
Tom is a self-confessed Apprentice fan, and is sure to provide some interesting insight as he analyses the business show’s latest episode alongside a panel.

Welsh comedian Rhod, 50, hosted the programme for three series from 2016 – after taking over from Jack Dee – but he has quit the position due to tour commitments, and he has backed ‘brilliant’ Tom to be a huge success on the show.
He said: ‘I’m back on the road after a seven year break, and with such a busy stand-up touring schedule, it’s time to hand over the reins of You’re Fired to someone else.’
Gushing about his successor, Rhod added: ‘The brilliant Tom Allen is going to smash it. In a good way.’

As well as being a comedian, Tom is also a writer and actor who started doing stand up at the age of 22, and after his debut he won both So You Think You’re Funny in Edinburgh and the BBC New Comedy Awards.
Since then, his popularity has grown exponentially, and Tom has bagged roles on Bake Off: Extra Slice and Bake Off: The Professionals, as well as making appearances on Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo.
Kate Phillips, controller entertainment commissioning at the BBC, says: ‘I’d like to thank Rhod for his fantastic three years in the hot seat, but the show will be in very safe hands as Tom will bring audiences at home and in the studio his own unique take on the weekly tasks and what happens in the Apprentice boardroom.’
The Apprentice and The Apprentice: You’re Fired return to the BBC later this year.
