Bus driver, 47, called a ‘paedo’ after falling in love with mate’s 16-year-old daughter returns to hometown for first time since they were forced out over 28 YEAR age gap

A 47-YEAR-OLD bus driver has revealed he was branded a “paedo” and driven from his home after falling for a friend’s 16-year-old daughter.

Andy and Beth, now 19, have been married three years and are featured in new TV show, Age Gap Love, which airs this week on Channel 5.

Andy, 47, says his life was turned upside down after he began dating Beth when she was 16

The loved-up couple – who now have two sons together -first met through Beth’s mum.

“We were all like one happy family but needless to say I didn’t know that Beth was getting these thoughts that she wanted me to be her happy man for ever sort of thing,” Andy, from North Wales, revealed.

“I was concerned what people would think… it’s a big gap, it’s a generation gap.”

The new Channel 5 show documents the ups and downs of age-gap relationships – with one couple having an age difference of 36 years.

But for Beth and Andy, the age gap has turned their lives upside down.

“To say it was really dark days, I can’t stress to you enough – that’s mild,” he said.

“They made me feel like I was some sort of animal because I’m going out with a younger girl.

“No, I’m going out with a younger girl because this girl has asked me to go out with her which is a privilege to me and an honour to me to find someone that thinks that of me.”

The first episode of the show sees Beth and Andy return to their Welsh home for a family holiday after being driven out two years ago.

Along with Timmy, 2 and one-year-old Conway, the couple travel from Lancashire to Wales – but Beth struggles to leave the car.

“People damaged the property they lived in, the vehicles they had and wrote obscenities on them,” revealed Beth’s auntie Nikki.

“They’d shout abuse at them, it wasn’t nice at all.”

The couple reveal their “end goal” is eventually to move back to the area – something they don’t think will be easy.

“Forty years I’ve lived in Wales, my mum’s been here, my grandma’s been here,” says Andy.

“Not to be where you were brought up where all your memories are and your family, it’s very tough, it doesn’t get any easier.

“It kills me inside all the time.

“I don’t want to be treated any differently… we are Beth and Andy and that’s it, isn’t it?”

Beth insists the age gap “doesn’t bother [her]”.

“I’ve always wanted to make a family… so I just thought Andy would be the perfect man to do so,” explained the 19-year-old.

“I don’t see him as an old man or my dad or anything like that.”

The couple married in a small gathering in North Wales with very few guests.

“The best way to describe our marriage is no different from three years ago, we’re best mates,” said Andy.

“What do I fancy about Beth… like any normal red hot blooded male, she’s beautiful, she’s vibrant, her character’s fantastic, just everything about her.

“And I think she sees in me security – I’m a comfortable pair of slippers.

“And I’m gorgeous apparently.”

This episode of Age Gap Love aired on Channel 5 in November and is available now on My 5.
