Boardmasters cancelled: Fans rage as music festival cancelled hours before opening
The three-day music festival was cancelled as police and safety advisers warned of a “potential risk” that was too severe. The music festival had scheduled acts such as Wu-Tang Clan, Florence and the machine and Foals to play at the event. However, due to weather conditions that could see up to 30mm (3cm) of rain in just a few hours the event was cancelled just hours before it was due to start.
In a statement, the organisers said: “Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.
“The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.”
“We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were.”
The organiser has announced that refund information will be shared “as soon as possible”, fans have savaged the organisers.

One user said: “Nothing on Boardmasters website?
“No emails have been sent out?
“Still think it’s been hacked considering it’s 11.00pm the night before the festival and it’s been written on notes? Doesn’t make sense?”
Another followed that trend, saying: “Are you possibly aware of the amount of money lost on transport, days off work, festival supplies, camping equipment, campsite deposits, holiday clothes.

“And don’t even get me started on the disappointment of missing out on our favourite artists and the effort spent organising.”
The Cornwall festival can trace its origins back to 1981.
Other acts who were also schedule to perform were Razorlight and Dizzee rascal.
Following the criticism for the event, a senior manager with festival organisers from Vision Nine Group said: “It’s disappointing news for many people.
“But for this year, we have made an extremely difficult decision to cancel the festival.”
