Eating roast turkey with tomato ketchup, and couples wearing matching pyjamas are among Britain’s top festive dislikes.
A study found other distasteful acts, or “icks”, at Christmas include talking politics over dinner and wearing festive jumpers.
The number one dislike is having ketchup alongside a roast turkey lunch instead of the traditional cranberry or bread sauce, with 32 per cent of those quizzed regarding this as the height of a festive faux pas.
According to research by online retailer Haypp, the second big no-no, at 29 per cent, is couples who wear matching PJs and post pictures of themselves on social media.
The third worst act is people talking politics over Christmas dinner (27 per cent) followed by people who undo their trousers after the big meal (24 per cent).
Laura Windsor, etiquette expert for the hit Netflix period drama Bridgerton, said: “Ketchup really should be saved for another day. There are 364 of those!”
She added: “Matching anything is a little tacky but it is Christmas after all. Just so long as you are not wearing pyjamas all day and forget to dress up for the occasion!”
