Arsenal vs Everton: Prediction, team news and match preview as the Gunners are hoping to remain on the winning path

EVERTON have not beaten Arsenal away since 1996 as they are travelling to the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners defeated Newcastle 2-1 last week as they are climbing up the table following a dreadful start of the season.

Arsenal have not lost to Everton in 24 straight home games

Marco Silva’s men lost 3-1 to West Ham as they struggle with a long injury list and have registered only two points from their last three games.

Key Man

With three goals in his two games for Everton, Richarlison was red-hot at the beginning of the season – perhaps a bit too much as he received a straight red against Bournemouth sidelining him for three games.

The Brazil international, however, comes back from suspension and will be available to Marco Silva on Sunday.

With the Toffees suffering to an early season slump, his flamboyance and vigour might inspire Everton upon his return to better results.

WAG watch

Lucas Torreira has not started a Premier League game yet but every time he has come on the pitch he significantly changed Emery’s side and made Arsenal play better.

There is one more reason, however, while Arsenal fans might want to see Torreira in action more often – his girlfriend Vittoria Repetto.

While the Uruguayan is still finding his role within the team, he took the stunning psychology student for a sightseeing tour in London admiring the city’s skyline under the night sky from the Shard’s heights together.

The stat that matters

All 10 goals scored by Arsenal in the Premier League this season have come from different players showing that the Gunners’ offensive play can be unpredictable and complex.

This effort from Arsenal’s forwards, however, is nullified by the Gunners’ sloppy defence as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in five first games of a season in top division since the 1988/89 season.

Likely line-ups

Arsenal: Cech, Monreal, Sokratis, Mustafi, Bellerin, Xhaka, Torreira, Ramsey, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Everton: Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, Zouma, Digne, Gueye, Bernard, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Richarlison, Tosun

What the managers said

Following the victory over Newcastle, Emery said: “We are improving. We need to continue working individually and collectively to improve more things.

“In the first half we didn’t control like we wanted but the second half we were better and the victory is just.”

After the defeat to West Ham, Marco Silva said: “When you win, you win together and when you lose it’s not just about our strikers. For the first goal we had to do something different.

“It’s a big lesson for us to learn, as I’ve told our players, and we need to learn it quickly.”

Everton’s last win was over Southampton on August 18

With Everton in an early crisis and the Gunners in good spirit after three straight wins, Arsenal will come out on top in this clash. Both teams concede often so we will see goals: 3-1 to Emery’s men.
