Andrea, 50, was on hand to lead the panel of Loose Women, joined by Stacey, 30, and Denise Welch, 62, in the studio to discuss several topical issues. Referring to the headlines about over 50s possibly having to adhere to strict coronavirus rules, the presenter decided to demonstrate her opposition to it. As a result, she and Denise, who are both over the age of 50, decided to storm off the set. The former X Factor star was left in amazement at the scenes and was forced to stand in and send the ITV show into an advertisement break.

The host said: “If Boris does decide to lockdown the over 50s, we’d be gone Denise – Stacey, you would be on your own.”

Stacey was dismayed by the fact she would be on her own if such measures were implemented before her co-stars decided to give her a taste of what it would be like.

“Right, bye,” Andrea remarked as she waved at the camera and stormed off the set, with Denise doing the same.

“We’re gone – I’m off,” the presenter declared as she could be seen walking off into the wings, with the singer adding: “Charming.

“It’s just you and me Penny,” she commented, with Penny Lancaster, 49, joining the ladies via video link.

“Don’t go anywhere,” a bemused Stacey told viewers, adding Andrea and Denise were going to return after the break.

“Hopefully they’ll be back by then,” she pleaded after giving the full rundown of what else was to come.

Earlier on in the programme, the former X Factor star gave her view on the other side of the debate and under 30s possibly being put into lockdown.

“It’s a really difficult one because you can’t group every single category in the same bracket,” she began.

“We have come on leaps and bounds in terms of knowledge since March. Whilst still a concern, I really don’t feel that COVID 19 is the biggest threat to the nation’s health,” they continued.

With Penny returning to the panel for the first time since last year, she addressed some of the health problems she suffered during the lockdown.

At one point, she thought she had contracted coronavirus as she told her co-stars: “I was getting these extremely severe hot sweats and I thought, ‘I’ve got a temperature. That’s it, I’m going to pass it on to all the family’.

“Then I was getting freezing cold and hot and then cold on top of the covers, under the covers and I was like, ‘This is the menopause’.”

“So, I was in lockdown, entering menopause and so I guess I’m officially at that age now,” she continued.

“It was very confusing,” Penny added before Andrea said: “I think so many women will not only understand what you’re talking about.

“Not only with the menopause but the stress dreams and worrying about your children.

“At the beginning of it all, we all felt exactly the same way,” with the panel in agreement over Penny’s ordeal.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12pm on ITV.
