The question whether humans are not alone in space has long fired imaginations, including some of the top minds from around the world. The lack of extraterrestrial evidence and yet arguably a high probability they exist has continued to perplex experts. But aliens may have already found us and are intentionally hiding themselves, extraterrestrial observers have claimed.
METI (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence) researchers have proposed aliens could be holding humans in a “galactic zoo”, simply watching us without revealing themselves, to avoid triggering pandemonium on Earth.
Scientists from all disciplines gathered at a Parisian science museum to explore a conundrum dating back to 1950, known as the Fermi Paradox.
While it is a disquieting thought, a growing scientific consensus believe aliens have been here all along and humanity has not realised it.
Jean-Pierre Rospars, an honorary research director at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, said: “It seems likely that extraterrestrials are imposing a galactic quarantine because they realise it would be culturally disruptive for us to learn about them.
“Cognitive evolution on Earth shows random features while also following predictable paths.

“We can expect the repeated, independent emergence of intelligent species in the universe, and we should expect to see more or less similar forms of intelligence everywhere, under favourable conditions.
“There is no reason to think that humans have reached the highest cognitive level possible.
“Higher levels might evolve on Earth in the future and already be reached elsewhere.”
And the scientists say mankind needs to be more direct in their approach, in order to make contact.
Dr Douglas Vakoch, president of METI, draws the analogy to a zoo animal who suddenly punches out prime numbers with its hoof.

Such an unexpected and extreme action would certainly trigger a response from the observer.
Dr Vakoch said: “Perhaps extraterrestrial are watching humans on Earth, much like we watch animals in a zoo.
“How can we get the galactic zookeepers to reveal themselves?”
And that prompt could be radio signal transmissions to nearby stars.
This has been attempted on numerous occasions in recent decades, when scientists beamed – for the first time – an intentional message into space, using the Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico.

What is the Fermi Paradox?
Italian physicist Enrico Fermi asked “where is everybody?” back in 1950 in what is now called the Fermi Paradox.
The Fermi Paradox addresses a contradiction in astronomy, summarised as: if extraterrestrial life and even intelligent alien civilisations are not just likely, but highly probable, then why have none of contacted us?
Are there biological or sociological explanations for this “Great Silence?”
