Aldi has just launched a brand new product – the Specially Selected Wagyu Beef Dripping Yorkshire Puddings – just in time for the Easter bank holiday weekend.
The luxurious and elaborate twist on the British yorkshire puddings, was spotted by food blog Newfoodsuk, which posted it on Facebook. Aldi describes the product as being “made in Yorkshire with Wagyu beef dripping for a perfectly crispy texture.” Many people were quick to react to the new product in the post’s comment section. One wrote: “Need to try!” Another added: “These on a roast“. Other people said: “They look amazing” while some posted comments direc ted at friends and familyincluding “we’ve gotta grab these”, “we should pop to aldi to get some stuff for the roast this weekend” and “you would love these”.
However, not everyone was sold on the Wagyu upgrade.
One shopper said: “What an absolute con, since when does beef fat from a wagyu cow taste any different from normal beef dripping? Anyone who buys these need there head examined.
Another added: “They just taste like a normal Yorkshire. Was disappointed with them.”
Someone else wrote: “They’ll literally put ‘wagyu’ or ‘dubai chocolate’ on everything now just to sell you the same s*** they were last week that nobody wanted.”
Wagyu beef is known for being among the best and most expensive meats in the world.
Originally from Japan, Wagyu beef has rich marbling and is known for it tenderness.
Authentic Japanese A5 Wagy imported from Japan can cost up to £200 per kilogram in the UK, with premium cuts reaching even higher prices depending on who is the supplier and the grade of the meat.
Although it is originally from Japan, Wagyu cattle are also now bred in the UK in various places including Wales, Yorkshire, and Shropshire.
