Australia is home of the world’s most expensive hot dog this weekend – sold out of a pop-up food truck in Sydney for an eye-watering $100.

The Escargot Haute Dog will be available at the company’s food truck at the Customs House Parisian Foodie Village with experts on hand to explain the French delicacy.

Those willing to shell out the three-figure price tag on the hot dog will be treated to escargots topped with the brand’s premium mustard label.

It is infused with white wine and buyers will also receive a stoneware jar perfect for their kitchen storage ideas. 

The pricey creation, which is also the world’s first of its kind, is being sold by Maille at the seventh anniversary of the festival alongside three other lower priced versions. 

A french onion hot dog with wholegrain mustard is available for $10, while a plant-based version is on offer for the same price paired with Dijon mustard.

On the final day of the festival on Sunday, a hot dog with Fromager D’Affinois double cream cheese and honey mustard can be had for $15.

The cart will be open from 10am until 11pm from Thursday until Saturday and 10am until 9pm on Sunday. 

The Bastille Festival last year brought 650,000 people over four days and is a celebration of French food, drink and arts.

There will be five ‘villages’ located around Circular Quay for the festival, which will also feature live music and performances
