Netflix viewers have days to watch film with 'ending that broke me'

The film Atonement, directed by Joe Wright, tells the poignant tale of star-crossed lovers Cecilia Tallis (Keira Knightley) and Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), whose relationship is shattered by a false accusation. Cecilia’s younger sister Briony (Saoirse Ronan) falsely claims that Robbie committed a heinous crime, leading to his arrest and subsequent deployment to fight in World War II. Meanwhile, Cecilia becomes a nurse, consumed by her inability to forgive her sister’s betrayal.

The narrative unfolds as a heart-wrenching exploration of two lovers desperately yearning for a chance at romance.. This breathtaking film is available to stream on Netflix for a limited time only, until it is removed from the platform on June 15.

Viewers have lavished praise on the movie, with one reviewer recalling: “I remember seeing Atonement when I was an older teenager, and I also remember this being the particular story and rendition that showed me that “girly” love stories CAN capture the heart of a man.”

The reviewer continued: “I don’t want to get into specifics, or spoilers, but Keira Knightley and James McAvoy are absolutely amazing, as is everything else about this film as well. The score is beautiful, sensual and elating. During the course of the story, I felt pretty much every single emotion that my soul is capable of producing.”

The film’s emotional impact is undeniable, with the reviewer confessing to experiencing a rollercoaster of feelings, from butterflies in their stomach to tears of sadness and frustration.

Viewers praised the film, saying: “I think that this story has something to offer just about anyone with an open mind. Definitely worth a couple hours of your time.”

Another fan added: “I loved this movie! It had some unique plot twists, but gladly not so many, so as not to make me feel cheated. However, the ending broke me; I shed too many tears.”

A third fan wrote: “Atonement is a visually stunning and emotionally impactful film that explores the devastating consequences of a childhood misunderstanding. The film is a masterclass in cinematography, capturing the beauty and desolation of the English countryside with breathtaking effect.

“The acting is superb across the board. James McAvoy delivers a captivating performance as the passionate and conflicted Robbie Turner, while Keira Knightley, as always, is luminous.”

Regrettably, once Atonement is removed from Netflix, audiences will need to purchase it in order to watch, reports SurreyLive.
