War films are loved by many people for a number of reasons. Some are great, some miss the mark, and others stay under the radar for way too long. One underrated World War 2 film starring Brad Pitt has now landed on Amazon Prime, and viewers are calling it a “masterpiece.”
Fury, which was released in 2014, follows a five-man American tank crew battling Nazi Germany during the final weeks of the war in Europe. Brad Pitt plays Sergeant Don “Wardaddy” Collier, leading his team through dangerous missions in an M4 Sherman tank.
The cast also includes Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal.
The film has recently received renewed attention after being featured on YardBarker’s list of war movies that haven’t received the praise they deserve.
YardBarker said: “Brad Pitt does fine work as the tank commander, while the actors around him bring gravity to the situation.”
Since its release in 2014, Fury has gained strong reviews from viewers for its realism and intensity.
One viewer described Fury as a film showing the true “brutality of war,” adding: “When it’s all set and done it’s not a bunch of medals and celebrations. It’s grief and despair and trauma after everything that just happened.”
Another fan praised the performances, saying: “The actors prepared for months and lived in a tank to achieve this level of acting. The clash of personalities among the crew at times is perfectly rendered. A true masterpiece.”
Many also highlighted the film’s tense battle scenes, with one viewer saying: “Fury was awesome.
“The camera work was wonderful, the sound was great, and it served very well as an unflinching look at the last weeks of WWII in Europe through the eyes of an armored crew.”
Fury was filmed in England, using authentic World War II-era tanks, including the famous Tiger 131, the last working Tiger tank from the Tank Museum at Bovington.
The filmmakers went to great lengths for accuracy, even using original wartime maps of Germany.
But despite positive reviews, Fury remains lesser-known compared to other Hollywood war films.
