Sky is back with a new way to watch TV and its low price may surprise you

After many months of waiting, Sky has finally confirmed the launch of its all-new Sky Glass Air television. This latest internet-connected gogglebox was first revealed back in February during the Sky Glass Gen 2 launch event. Now we finally know when it will go on sale, along with how much it will cost, and the price might surprise you.

Sky Glass Air will start from just £6 per month for the TV, which sounds like a bit of a bargain.

For that low cost, you get a 4K HDR Quantum Dot display, Dolby Atmos-powered audio and a sleek design with slim bezels – it even comes in three colours, including Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White.

Just like its more expensive Sky Glass Gen 2 sibling, the Air doesn’t need a dish stuck to the chimney with all content beamed to the screen via a broadband connection instead. That means it’s simple to install with no need for an engineer to visit.

Along with live and on-demand shows, sports and movies, Sky Glass Air also has full access to all the most popular streaming apps, plus you get personalised recommendations for each member of the family and a Playlists option where you can store things to watch at a later date.

This TV will ship in three sizes, including 43”, 55”, and 65”, with all models arriving in stores from June 10th.

Of course, that £6 price sounds pretty enticing, but things will get more expensive when you start adding extra channels and bigger displays.

Sky says homes can add its basic Essential TV option for £15 bringing the total monthly price to £21 per month. However, start bolting on Sports, Sky Cinema and other options and that bill will obviously increase.

It’s also worth remembering that you will be paying that £6 price for 48 months.

Sky has confirmed that customers can also opt to pay for Sky Glass Air upfront, all in one go. Upfront pricing starts from £309 for the 43-inch screen, with things rising to £649 for the 65-inch model.

Speaking about the launch Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW said, “With Sky Glass Air, we’re bringing the Sky experience to more people through a beautifully designed TV with stunning picture quality from just £6 a month. It’s all about giving people better for less: more choice, great tech, and the content they love, without compromising on quality. From the ultimate performance of Glass Gen 2 to the incredible value of Air, there’s now a Sky Glass to suit everyone, whether you’re new to Sky or already with us.”
