This beautiful Scottish seaside town has officially been recognised as the top coastal destination in the UK for food and drink, according to a survey conducted by consumer organisation, Which?. The company collected insights from nearly 5,000 travellers, who were asked to rate various seaside towns on several key aspects, including the quality of the beaches, available tourist attractions, and most importantly, the standard of food and drink on offer.
With an impressive overall destination score of 82 percent, St Andrews stood out from the rest for its exceptional blend of natural beauty and culinary excellence. The town received glowing five-star ratings for its sandy shores and local attractions, and an admirable four stars for its dining scene.
Foodies visiting the area won’t be disappointed. Among the must-visit spots is The Grange Inn, a cosy and atmospheric restaurant housed in a beautifully restored 17th-century farmhouse offering both rustic charm and sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
Also earning praise is the Seafood Ristorante, a stylish, glass-fronted eatery perched dramatically over the shoreline, where visitors and locals can savour freshly prepared, locally sourced seafood such as hand-dived scallops and lobster while also enjoying panoramic views of the North Sea.
Dean Banks, a 2018 finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals, owns two standout restaurants in St Andrews, HAAR and Dune, and says the town offers a wide variety of exceptional food and drink options for every taste.
You’ll also find artisan gelato at Jannettas, hearty toasties from The Cheesy Toast Shack, and top-tier fish and chips at Cromars.
