Prince Harry could spark a new royal row with his potential career plans, a royal expert has said. Last week, it was reported that the Duke of Sussex is “plotting a surprise” as he is seeking to find a “new purpose” with a major move taking place soon.
Harry will launch his own commercial venture in the next few months and while concentrating on his Invictus Games Foundation at the same time, the Mail on Sunday alleges. While there are no details on what the prince’s new venture could be, a royal expert warned that it could be tricky and end up with Harry being “even angrier”.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond told the Mirror: “Personally, I think this commercial route opens him up to all sorts of accusations of trading on his royal status, which would make him an even angrier young man than at present.
“I think Harry is still trying to figure out where he goes from here. By normal standards, he’s a very rich man, but life in Montecito doesn’t come cheap, especially with all the security costs he deems necessary.”
Ms Bond asked: “So is he content for his wife to be the breadwinner while he concentrates on the children and charity work? There’s nothing wrong with that but he might feel he needs to pursue commercial ventures too.”
The commentator added that there is “nothing wrong” with Harry being a stay-at-home dad and focusing on his charity work, as he is “brilliant at just being Harry”.
She said: “He should perhaps stick to what he’s born to, trained for and truly good at.”
A source told the Mail on Sunday last week: “Harry is unkindly described as the ‘spare’ to Meghan’s endeavours. In reality, he has been giving her the space to flourish.
“Now it is his time to throw himself into exciting new work. Invictus will always come first, but he has also been working on commercial ideas of his own.”
