If PSG win the Champions League trophy on Saturday night, there could be chaos around the French Open site. Stade Roland Garros is less than a kilometre away from PSG’s home ground, and organisers of the tennis tournament have brought in extra security to help with the madness.
Tens of thousands of fans will head to the Parc des Princes on Saturday night to watch them take on Inter Milan. The game clashes with Novak Djokovic’s night session match on the French Open’s main stadium court, and the tournament director has confirmed that police will be rolled out around the grounds.
“All around Roland Garros there will be police department teams that will be rolled out. Also safety arrangements will be set up. It was well set up,” Amelie Mauresmo said ahead of the Champions League final.
“Also outside the police department and prefecture have done everything, scheduled everything. They’re used to that kind of event.”
Fans inside at Roland Garros won’t be stopped from watching the match on their own devices, and the tournament boss isn’t expecting an “uproar” inside her own grounds.
She added: “We’re very cautious. We have security teams. That’s not merely for someone that will watch a football match.
“We can’t prohibit people to watch their telephone and to follow the football match simultaneously. There won’t be 10, 20 goals. If once or twice we’ll have a bit of an uproar, it’s going to be fine.”
