A famous seaside resort is on track to being transformed as an “iconic” venue located at its seafront has been placed under new ownership. The Queens Royal, a hotel bar overlooking Marine Promenande in New Brighton and boasting stunning views is set to reopen this summer with a number of social media posts revealing that “something special is coming”.
Local hospitality owner Nicholas Demetrios is set to revive the seafront venue. Mr Demetrios, who was Wirral Life Magazine’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 says The Queens Royal will be “reborn as a traditional pub with a modern twist”, providing drinks, food, weekly events, and private function rooms.
The availabilty of 20 boutique hotel rooms to be used for getaways and wedding guests are also part of the plans, but aimed to happen later on in the year. The new owners hope The Queens Royal “is set to become a New Brighton favourite once again”.
The opening date is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be in the coming months.
News of the pub’s return gathered much excitement on social media. Margot Flowerday said: “That’s good news. New Brighton needs a decent hotel having lost three in recent years. Good luck to the new owner and every success with the venue.”
Echoing the comment, Maggie Sharp said: Fantastic news. All the very best luck to the new oweners.” Whilst Nick Morrison said: “We’ve been missing a pub down the promenade, excellent news!”
The request to bring back certain food options was also amongst the social media responses. Sandra Manville said: “Bring back the carvery.”
While Betty Nesbitt reminised on the former days and said: “Great news. Remember when it was the Beefeater. Great food, glass of sherry, happy days.”
The pub is located on Marine Primenande right opposite the Marine Point Retail Leisure and Cinema Complex. In 2019, it was reported that both the pub and restaurant shut its doors for the final time.
A spokeperson confirmed to the ECHO at the time that the pub had ceased trading and a notice had gone up outside the venue, informing customers of the news.
In a separate announcement, a spokesperson said: “After 15 years of serving our loyal customers we have decided to put the business up for sale.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have made this decision and on behalf of all the staff and directors we thank you for all your loyal custom and helping to make it the community hub that it is known to be.
“Once again, many thanks for you custom.”
