Amazon has kicked off a pay-day tablet sale with prices slashed across its flagship gadgets. Among them is Amazon’s ‘most powerful’ tablet, the Fire Max 11, which has dropped from £249.99 to £184.99 – a £65 saving. This is for the 64GB model, with the 128GB model now £70 off at £219.99. Shoppers looking to keep costs down can opt for Amazon’s mid-range Fire HD 10, now down from £149.99 to £109.99.

The most budget-friendly model in Amazon’s tablet range is the Fire HD 8, which is down from £99.99 to £69.99. Each version offers an affordable solution for those seeking a new gadget capable of web browsing, video streaming, music playback and more.

They offer an affordable alternative to top Apple models, but Sky Mobile has launched a rival deal allowing members to spread the cost of the new iPad (2025) for £10.50. This means committing to a 48-month plan and pairing it with a data SIM, but it won’t hurt the wallet as much as buying it outright from Amazon for £309.97 or Argos for £329.

For those sticking with Amazon, the Fire Max 11 is the retailer’s most premium, which some could even say rivals entry-level Apple iPads.  Thanks to an 11” screen with 2.4 million pixels, guaranteeing sharp detail. It’s crafted with a slim aluminium body that’s ‘as thin as a pencil’ and reinforced with strengthened glass.

Amazon claims it’s ‘three times as durable’ as the 10th generation iPad and with 64GB of storage, it provides ample space for apps, music and photos. It also comes equipped with 8MP front and rear cameras, with a battery life of up to 14 hours.

The Fire Max 11 has earned more than 1,850 five-star reviews, with some hailing it as Amazon’s ‘best-ever Fire tablet’. One thrilled user said: “Wow, very impressed for the price.

“I’ve had several Fire tablets in the past that were useful but clearly on the budget side of things. The Fire Max is a big step up in performance, screen, and build quality, but still cheap as chips, especially if bought on a deal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, provided you can live with the locked-down nature of the device.”

Another said: “A superb tablet. Easy to set up. Lightning fast. Streaming image quality is flawless, and the sound is just like surround sound – I’m honestly not sure which is better, the built-in speaker sound or headphone sound. Bluetooth connected virtually instantly. I’m rather annoyed at myself for not getting one sooner.”

However, despite their five-star review, the same buyer added: “The only negative I can see is the lack of crossover with my Windows anti-virus software.”

But a third happy customer said: “Best Amazon Fire tablet ever. This is my third Amazon tablet, having had the two previous 10” models, I decided it was time to get a newer model as mine was feeling a bit slow and sluggish. Wow, what a tablet. It is ultra-thin but with an all-metal case rather than a plastic shell and isn’t much heavier than my previous model. The 11” screen is crystal clear, with ultra-bright, sharp detail due to the much higher resolution screen and with the newer processor and more memory, it is super fast compared to my older model, and it also holds its charge for so much longer.”
