Along with the Universal and Disney parks, Epcot is one of the most well-known theme parks in the world. Located within Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, Epcot specialises in highlighting science, nature, and global cultures. However the most known part of the park are the different areas showcasing the culture of different countries.
But much to people’s dismay, visiting the park can be expensive, especially if you count in the price of having to travel to Orlando from the UK.
Now, a mum named Jen, known online as The Travel Mum, has taken to social media to share a cheaper alternative to Epcot, and it’s located in Europe.
Taking to social media app TikTok, Jen shared a video of her family, including husband João and their two sons Leo and Luca were enjoying their time in Europa-Park, located in Rust, Germany – about 40 minutes away from Strasbourg.
“This theme park has won best theme park in the world nine times in a row, beating Disney and Universal. Let’s check it out,” Jen said at the start of the video.
Highlighting the similarities to Epcot’s popular cultural areas, where each part highlights the architechture and cultures of different countries around the world, Jen pointed out that Europa-Park had a similar theme.
“The theming is incredible and is based on different countries from Europe. They even have a British pub and beer garden,” she said while showing clips from inside the park.
As for the different rides and rollercoasters, she said: “The queue times are absolutely amazing, with a lot of the smaller rides only having one minute queues. This is perfect for kids who like to go on rides again and again and again.”
She continued: “The roller coasters here are amazing, and a lot of them have single rider lines, virtual queues, or baby switch. The park is fantastic for thrill seekers, but at the same time it caters to the little ones with lots for them to do and interactive elements.”
“If all that wasn’t enough, they even have the most incredible shows,” she added.
As for accommodation, Jen wrote in the caption of the video that they’d opted to stay in a campervan, parked on the Europa-Park camping ground.
This meant they were within walking distance to the theme park, as well as a short and free shuttlebus ride away from a nearby waterpark called Rulantica.
So how much does it cost to visit Europa-Park?
“With two day park tickets starting from just £83, or you can get a combination theme park and water park ticket for just £68,” Jen explained. “This place is fantastic value and definitely somewhere we’ll be returning to soon.”
People quickly took to the comment section of the video, with many saying they’d been convinced to book their holidays to the theme park.
“I went to Europa park when I was 7. I still remember it now… time of my life,” said one viewer, while another person wrote: “We did two days here and one in Phantasialand. Europa knocks the other theme parks out of the water.”
Epcot in Florida can be just as fun – but this is definitely a great alternative for those who are concerned about budget.
