Imagine lounging under the sun, Aperol Spritz in hand, ready to savour some of the finest pizza on the planet – and all without having to splash out. Brits yearning for a taste of ‘la dolce vita’ can find just that in the stunning city of Naples, now crowned the most budget-friendly spot for an Aperol, according to new data from eurochange.

The research shows you can enjoy this quintessential summer beverage for as little as €2 (£1.54). For those in the know, Cammarota Spritz is the place to be; described as a “cool, no-frills Aperol-themed bar in the heart of the city”, where the price can dip to a mere 84p. Not to be missed either is Spritzerò, another local haunt dedicated to Aperol, serving up spritzes at the wallet-friendly €2 mark, reports MirrorOnline.

And when it comes to gastronomy, Naples is a haven for food lovers – after all, it’s the home of pizza. Whether you’re dining out or grabbing a bite from a street vendor, you’ll encounter some of the globe’s most delectable pizzas (just steer clear of the contentious pineapple-on-pizza debate with the locals!)

But Naples offers more than just culinary delights. Earlier this year, Lonely Planet named this destination one of Europe’s top weekend getaways, citing its myriad attractions, historical edifices, and buzzing nightlife.

The travel gurus noted: “Italy’s third-largest city, Naples is both chaotic and cultured, opulent and gritty, exuberant and understated, with architectural gems around every corner.”

History buffs will be thrilled to learn that the ancient city of Pompeii, tragically buried under volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD, is a mere half-hour train ride from Naples, making the Italian city an ideal starting point for explorations.

Brits looking for a bargain will be pleased to hear that reaching Naples on a budget is quite straightforward.

Skyscanner uncovered direct flights starting at just £42 with carriers such as Ryanair and easyJet, while Hotels.com offers accommodation options in the city from as low as £33 per night.

A Mirror journalist recently took a trip to Naples, albeit with some trepidation after hearing whispers of its ‘dodgy’ and ‘dangerous’ reputation.

However, upon arrival, she was pleasantly surprised to discover the warmth of the locals, the allure of the sights, and the vibrant nightlife.

Reflecting on her experience, she noted: “Naples’ nightlife is second to none – kicking off with an Aperol spritz in one of the city’s numerous bars, watching life pass by, before moving on to taste some truly amazing Neapolitan pizza, hailed as the world’s best by many.”

She continued: “We spent a thrilling three days in Naples, and every moment was a delight. Sure, it’s bustling and crossing the road requires bravery and a certain level of recklessness, but the city is teeming with life. The city buzzes with activity, the views are breathtaking, and the locals are fantastic.”
