PS Plus Extra and Premium May 2025 line-up, release date and games leaving service

PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the release of the Extra and Premium games for May 2025.

Consisting of various PS4 and PS5 games, the next batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games have a May 20 release date. The May 2025 PS Plus line-up is headlined by Bandai Namco action game Sand Land, which is based on the Manga by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. The game tasks players with creating vehicles in order to explore a vast desert.

Sony explains more: “Meet the Fiend Prince Beelzebub, his chaperone Thief, and the fearless Sheriff Rao, and follow the team on an extraordinary adventure in search of the Legendary Spring hidden in the desert.

“Learn how to control Beelzebub’s powers and lead your company of heroic misfits exploring the legendary world of Sand Land.

“Beware of the many dangers that populate it: between bandits, fierce wildlife, and the Royal Army, reaching the spring won’t be easy! Use your tact and imagination to develop tanks and other vehicles that will help you navigate this vast land, using a wide array of part combinations.”

In addition to Sand Land, PS Plus Extra subscribers can download Soul Hackers 2, Battlefield 5 and Humankind.

That’s on top of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted – Full Time Edition, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life and Gloomhaven.

The PS Plus Premium line-up, meanwhile, consists of just one game, as Battle Engine Aquila joins the roster.

It’s not the best line-up of games, and has even been dubbed embarrassing by some subscribers, especially compared to recent Xbox Game Pass offerings.

Sadly, however, it’s not all good news, because around 20 games are leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium, including a handful of PSVR 2 titles.

The biggest loss is GTA 5, which will leave PS Plus Extra just a few weeks after Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed.

Other games leaving PS Plus Extra include MotopGP 24, The Sims 4 Island Living and Stranded Alien Dawn. That’s on top of Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, The Lego Movie 2 Videogame and Ghostrunner.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, Portal Knights, Enter the Gungeon, Batman Arkham Knight, Infamous Second Son, Resistance Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are also leaving the service.

Unfortunately, despite Revenge of the Savage Planet launching in May, Sony is removing predecessor Journey to the Savage Planet from PS Plus Extra.

PS Plus Premium subscribers will also lose the ability to play various PSVR 2 titles, including Walkabout Mini Golf, Synth Riders Remastered Edition, Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord and Before Your Eyes.

Finally, high-profile PSVR 2 titles The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners and The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners Chapter 2 Retribution are also leaving on May 20.
