A UK city has been named as the best in Europe according to three factors – liveability, lovability and prosperity. Resonance Counsultancy, a Canadian tourism and real estate advisory has been going through Europe’s cities for three years and this time round the company has decided to focus on how cities both perform and how they are perceived

While Europe is full of incredible cities boasting vibrant cultures, experiences, and identities. Out of the 182 cities across the continent that were analysed, there appears to be one that outshines them all, and it is closer to home than you may think.  London, the bustling capital was crowned the top spot for the third time in a row.

“London’s magnetic appeal continues to draw a global audience – from students and entrepreneurs to tourists and corporate titans,” reads the reports. “The city’s robust recovery post-pandemic is reflected in it’s strong international traveller spending, which in 2024 reached almost £16.3 billion and secured London the third-highest global position and the top spot in Europe.”

The livability metric looked at housing affordability, healthcare access, green space, airquality and cycling infrastructure, while lovability focused on cultural vibrancy, nightlife, culinary scence, social buzz, and online telling.

The last major feature cities were measured against was the propserity, for instance, the business enviroment, talent density, GDP per capita, university strength, and airport connectivity.

London excelled in the both the lovability and prosperity metrics, and while it was praised for a number of things such as transport, business sector and community space, it was particularly highlighted for its educational attaintment and nightlife.

The report also commended the capital’s tourism industry and how the benefits of it has been shared across London’s neighbourhoods, while remaining focused to “attract more diverse and longer-staying international visitors” with London & Partners leading the strategic vision.

Laura Citron OBE, CEO of London & Partners said: “Our experience economy draws the world in and our frontier tech pushes boundaries out. Looking to our next decade of growth, we will continue to evolve without losing sight of our rich history. It’s this unique blend that makes us stand out as a leading destination both within Europe and across the world.”
