The draw for the 2025 Italian Open has been announced ahead of the competition, with Emma Raducanu discovering that she has a been handed a favourable opening match. The Brit will face an unknown qualifier in her first-round match, with Ekaterina Alexandrova waiting for the victor of that match in the second round.
The 22-year-old could go on to face Coco Gauff in the round of 16. Fellow Brit Katie Boulter will take on Anastasia Pavlyuchenko in the first round, and clashes with Australian Open victor Sofia Kenn and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka could await her.
In the men’s draw, Jannik Sinner is set to return to action for the first time since his Australian Open victory. The world No. 1 has now served his three-month suspicion for a doping violation, and he will be keen to mark his return with a success in Rome.
The Italian received a bye for the first round and then will take on either world No. 99 Mariano Navone or teenager Federico Cina. Tougher tests could follow further down the line though. Sinner could face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Frances Tiafoe and newly-crowned Madrid Open winner Casper Ruud before reaching the semi-finals.
