A new mother tragically lost her life in a fatal golf cart accident at a private country club, according to local authorities. Mary Beth Blasetti, 32, was killed on Saturday when she was thrown from the golf cart she was riding in at Sherwoods Forest Club.
She suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital where she sadly passed away two days later. Biasetti had recently given birth to a baby girl, Mary Katharine, just two months before the accident.
The Maryland mum leaves behind her husband Nick, 33, and their infant daughter. “Marybeth was such a beautiful person,” her mother-in-law Sandi Blasetti told The DailyMail. “Our family is devastated by the tragic loss of her.”
Biasetti was reportedly the passenger in the golf cart at the time of the accident which occurred near the private club in Annapolis, Maryland. Police said the cart either hit a bump or bounced while transitioning between surfaces, causing her to fall or be ejected from the vehicle, reports the Mirror US.
The driver of the golf cart was reportedly a 32 year old woman from Crownsville, Maryland who police are not identifying at this time. “Police are not releasing her details pending an ongoing investigation,” Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Marc Limansky said.
“It is incredibly sad. When police arrived the fire department was already on the scene,” Limansky said. “She had sustained an injury and was airlifted to University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.”
He also mentioned that even though it was a golf cart that was involved in the tragic accident, the Traffic Safety Section of the police department is still thoroughly investigating the case.
Biasetti, who graduated from the University of West Virginia, was employed as an account manager for Golden Hippo, a brand marketing firm. One of the managers at her workplace, speaking to the DailyMail, praised Biasetti’s professional prowess, saying she was “a superstar” at work.
“But above all else, [she was] a lovely and wonderful person,” added Ben Middlemas during the interview. To assist with funeral expenses, Middlemas highlighted a GoFundMe campaign set up in her memory which has so far amassed close to $309,717.
“Mary Beth brought joy to so many and had a wide community of friends and family who are devastated by her sudden passing,’ penned her friend Olivia McKenna. “She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. “.
