Britons are braced for heavy April showers this week have some spring joy on the horizon – as new maps reveal a glorious 20C-plus mini-heatwave is on its way. This week the Met Office has issued 24-hour yellow warnings with flooding “possible” as heavy rain is expected to hammer the UK

It will dampened the spring spirits of Britons after the UK has sizzled in days of much-welcomed sunshine and high temperatures. And cold weather could continue into the Easter weekend as maps from WXCharts show temperatures dipping to -2C in some regions.

But despite the gloom of looming downpours new weather maps have offered a glimmer of joy is heading our way before the month is out – with the mercury set to soar again.

New WXCharts.com maps show 20C-plus heat could be baking the UK by Sunday 27th April with West Midlands, and southern England enjoying the best of the higher temperatures.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for Saturday 19th to Monday 28th April reveals the wet periods will be followed by some more glorious summer-like weather.

It adds: “Mixed conditions across the UK at the start of this period. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely across many regions, these heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder, perhaps accompanied by strong winds.

“Some drier and brighter interludes are also likely at times, but probably with large amounts of cloud. Temperatures will likely be near normal overall.

“Into the following week, a similar pattern is likely at first with unsettled conditions at times with a risk of some heavy rain or showers.

“Later in the week settled weather is expected to become more prevalent, with more in the way of dry, sunny weather beginning to develop. Temperatures will probably be around normal or slightly above.”

Then from Tuesday 29th April the Met Office says of the outlook: “Late April into early May will probably see a good deal of settled weather with high pressure patterns most likely to dominate.

“Whilst some spells of wetter, more unsettled weather are possible at times, much of the period is expected be fine and dry. Temperatures are expected to be near normal or slightly above.”
