Royal expert’s scathing six-word verdict on Prince Harry ‘Spare sequel’ | Royal | News

A royal expert has issued a scathing six-word verdict on Prince Harry’s rumoured sequel to his memoir “Spare”. The book was published in January 2023, and quickly became the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time, selling more than 1.43million copies in the US, Canada and the UK on its first day of release. Now, the Duke of Sussex is said to have triggered serious fears in Buckingham Palace that he may release a follow-up.

Palace officials are reportedly fearing that Harry could launch a renewed attack on the institution as he battles to win back taxpayer-funded UK security. Angela Levin, a journalist, royal commentator and biographer, has shared her verdict on the rumours. She wrote on X: “Harry can’t hurt his Royal Family more than he has done.”

In a six-word remark she added that “most readers won’t believe his nastiness” before saying: “It certainly won’t be an opportunity to get close to his Family again.”

The duke said last week that his “worst fears” about the axing of his police protection were confirmed by private evidence during his legal tussle with the Home Office.

He is fighting the dismissal of his High Court claim against the government over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the country.

A two-day hearing sat partly in away from the public to hear secret evidence, and The Telegraph reported the duke was unhappy about what he heard.

Speaking as he left the Royal Courts of Justice, Harry said “people would be shocked by what’s being held back”.

He added that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad”.

The duke also reportedly suggested the decision was an attempt to prevent him and his wife, Meghan Markle, from quitting as working royals and moving abroad.

Buckingham Palace sources have strongly denied this.
