The Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date and price has been announced following today’s Nintendo Direct conference. After an hour-long presentation focusing on the Switch 2, Nintendo launched new regional websites containing pre-order dates and pricing.

According to the Nintendo Switch 2 website, UK fans will be able to pre-order the Switch 2 on April 8. The standard edition of the console is priced at £395.99, while a bundle containing Mario Kart World will be available for £429.99.

US pre-orders will go live on April 9, with prices starting at $449 for the standard edition and $499 for the Mario Kart World bundle.

In terms of what’s in the box, the Nintendo Switch 2 console comes with two Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R), Joy-Con 2 Grips, Joy-Con 2 Straps, Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, an Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable, Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter and USB-C Charging Cable.

Mario Kart World is a new racing game featuring open-world elements and multiple different regions.

Not only does it contain a traditional Grand Prix mode featuring set courses, but you’ll be able to actually drive to the next race.

The Free Roam mode also lets you discover new secrets and routes, all the while interacting with friends.

Nintendo also confirmed that the game will indeed support 24-person multiplayer and will support in-game chat functionality via the console’s new C-Button.

More details will be revealed during a dedicated Mario Kart World Direct on April 17.

Speaking of the C-Button, the new feature lets you chat with friends when playing the Switch 2, and is supported in handheld and docked mode. You’ll also be able to share your screen. Pressing the C Button pulls up a chat screen, complete with various options.

A separate camera can be used to display players during gameplay and chat. The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will be available on the same day as the Switch 2.

You’ll need to be a Switch Online subscriber to use the chat function, although the service will be free until March 26, 2026 for Switch 2 users.

Other games announced during the event include Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, and FromSoftware’s The Duskblooods.
