Balmoral Castle is famed for being Queen Elizabeth II “happy place” and was the idyllic home where she spent most of summers as well as her final days.

Since her death back in 2022, aged 96, King Charles has taken over the home – although he has not decided to frequent there as much as his mother did.

The sprawling private property was passed over to the reigning monarch and is not part of the Crown Estate – and it has since launched its online shop featuring a range of gifts inspired by the late Queen.

The website may be the perfect go to for your Christmas shop – but only if your bank account will stretch that far.

One of the most striking fabrics is the Balmoral hunting tartan, which was created by Araminta Birse-Stewart. Top on the list is the £962 cashmere tartan throw

The snuggly blanket is described as the: “Perfect gift for interiors lovers or simply as a special gift to yourself.

“This throw encapsulates the rich heritage and natural beauty of Balmoral Castle and Estate, offering a piece of Scottish legacy you can cherish for years to come”.

If you have fallen in love with the design but do not have deep enough pockets then the Johnstons of Eglin Green Check Christmas Blanket is a great alternative.

The limited edition blanket is £179 and you can buy it here if you click on this link. It comes in two patterns – one light and the other dark and is made in Scotland from 100% wool.

Meanwhile, The Scotland Kilt Company Tartan Rug on Amazon is just £50 – which you can buy here. It is a soft blanket that features fringed edges and comes in a variety of sizes.

One customer who purchased it said: “Love this tartan throw. Great quality, authentic and the added bonus of being washable.”

“Lightweight but very warm, soft, and beautiful. Saturated colors. I knit with different wools.

“This is a very high quality item. Purchased for my mother’s Christmas present. Outdid every expectation! She just pets it and smiles dreamily,” penned a second.

While another said: “I bought this Douglas XL tassled blanket for the bed because it looks good lay across it and I can open it out and use it in winter if it gets too cold. Really lovely quality – soft and heavy. I like the fact it is genuine and made in Scotland and I am supporting a Britsh Company by buying it.”

If you are after some home pieces by Araminta Birse-Stewart who designed the Balmoral collection he has also created some beautiful winter designs.

They include a stunning winter scarf priced at £385, a shawl worth £140 and a lambswool hot water bottle costing £75.

However, if those do not take your fancy then there are various other high-end products like the deerskin zip-top backpack for £750.
