A cleaning guru on TikTok has gone viral for sharing how she ‘decorates’ her toilet in order to help it keep it clean while also make it look nice, but not everyone is convinced it’s worth it.
TikTok creator Anouk, better known online as ‘clean_with_anouk’, is known for her cleaning videos, where she shares her top tips on how to keep your home looking and smelling nice with her simple life hacks. However one of her videos has caused a stir among her 37,000 followers as she’s seen ‘decorating’ her toilet to make it both look nicer but also to keep it clean.
“Decorate my toilet with me,” she wrote on one video as she went on to show how she used toilet cleaning discs in different scents and colours around the inside of the toilet bowel to make a multi-coloured pattern.
These gel discs are squeezed out of a tube into the toilet bowl, where the antibacterial gel slowly dissolves with every flush, helping to keep the toilet clean. Anouk started off with putting maroon coloured ones in a circle at the bottom of the bowl before moving on to add yellow ones on top. She then continued doing this with blue and pink discs as well until she reached the top of the bowl.
Despite the fun and useful hack, people were left less than impressed by Anouk’s cleaning hack. Many of them saw several issues with decorating it in that way.
“Imagine how much “dirt” will be stuck between the flowers?!” one user criticised. However, they were quickly reassured that the discs are designed to get smaller by each flush and thereby will get rid of any ‘dirt’.
“And thats how all the chemicals is going waters and nature,” another person commented, while a third person said: “So much wasted product.”
However, others expressed their love for the simple hack, but one question left them perplexed.
“Love it but it’s a shame when number 2 leaves a stain and you have to clean the whole thing,” one person wrote.
“What if you have to use a toilet brush?” a second viewer asked, to which another one replied: “You will need to go in with a toothbrush to get around all the small corners around each flower.”
