While filming episode one of ‘With Love, Meghan’, the Duchess of Sussex has revealed the one food item she’s “never liked”. The eight-episode series came out on Netflix on March 4, with episode one focusing on how to bee-keep alongside an expert.
While gathering honey from hives, Meghan tells the beekeeper: “You know what’s so ironic about it? I’ve never liked honey.”
Meghan adds: “I didn’t think it was bad. I just never craved it. I thought it was almost too sweet, and now, because of this process, I just appreciate it so much.”
The beekeeper adds: “And this is as high-quality as it gets too.”
In episode one ‘Hello, Honey!’, the Duchess of Sussex was shown making her own honey from bee hives kept in a rented £5 million mansion in Montecito.
It comes as the Duchess officially launched the website for her new lifestyle brand As Ever, on Tuesday hours after the show’s release. On the site, she advertises Limited Edition Wildflower Honey with Honeycomb as one of the products she will sell.
‘With Love, Meghan’ launched on the streaming platform at 8am UK time – midnight on the West Coast of America – after being delayed from January due to the Los Angeles wildfires.
The eight episodes, which are each 33 minutes long, see Meghan inviting famous friends to “a beautiful California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips”, according to Netflix.
Episode one also features her New York-based makeup artist friend, Daniel Martin, who Meghan teaches how to make pasta, and beeswax candles, with a few minor accidents along the way.
The whole show, which has the mood tags “relaxing”, “feel-good” and “lifestyle” on the Netflix platform, also features Meghan’s former Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, alongside other celebrity guests.
The show is seen as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020 shortly after quitting life as working royals.
Meghan also today revealed a series of food items she will sell on her website under her new ‘As Ever’ brand in partnership with Netflix – including raspberry jam, herbal teas, crepe mix, shortbread butter biscuits and the wildflower honey with honeycomb.
It comes after the 43-year-old former actress renamed her lifestyle brand As Ever, switching from the name, American Riviera Orchard just weeks before the launch after facing trademarking setbacks.
While Harry and Meghan are hoping the new show will be a hit, reception in the UK has been mixed, with one TV critic branding the show a “cure for insomnia” and others mocking her “basic” dishes.
Fans of the show, however, have branded it a “hit” with one user on X writing: “It’s a hit! Everyone is loving Princess Meghan’s new Netflix show With Love, Meghan. I’m so proud of her.”
Another wrote: “If you like food, if you like flowers, if you like friends, if you like fun, do check out #WithLoveMeghan.”
