Not only were the results great, but getting to grips with the appliance couldn’t have been easier.
The Swan Lynsey Handheld Steam Cleaner is shaped like a small kettle, with a prominent water tank cap on top. Above the handle, you’ll find the steam trigger, which can only be pressed when the safety catch on the inside of the handle is held down – so you won’t activate the steam accidentally.
This steam cleaner comes with nine different attachments, making it great to clean many areas of your home.
For this cleaning task, I used the accessory nozzle and the grout brush tool.
I started by filling up the water tank with 220ml of water that’s outlined on the measuring cup before screwing on the lid and turning it on by the plug socket.
The cleaner switches on and starts heating up automatically when it’s connected to power, indicated by a red light – meaning the water tank needs to be filled beforehand.
When the light turns green, the water has been heated up and the appliance is ready to use. For a full tank, it took just over two minutes.
With the cleaner ready to use, I worked in small sections to ensure the grout was properly cleaned. When it came to the hard-to-reach areas, I switched to the angled nozzle.
I did have to keep a dry cloth at hand because it tended to leave the wall quite wet.
The minor downside to using this steam cleaner is that the water tank is quite small, so I did have to refill it two to three times. However, given how light it is, it made the cleaning task more comfortable.
The grout looked significantly whiter than before and I didn’t have to use any chemicals or harsh scrubbing.
The Swan Lynsey Handheld Steam Cleaner isn’t the only steam cleaner on the market.
For a slightly bigger water tank and a cheaper price, Lakeland’s Handheld Steam Clear retails for £29.99 currently down from £39.99. Customers in the comments section noted that it’s “easy to use” and “makes cleaning a breeze”.
Alternatively, for a similar sized tank, households can pick up a handheld steam cleaner from Amazon for £39.99 currently down from £46.99 which has a majority of five-star ratings.
