King Charles has a surprising secret talent that his grandchildren adore, Queen Camilla has revealed.
Her Majesty spoke about the King, 75, on her podcast series The Queen’s Reading Room, which was launched from her very own book club in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In one past episode, the Queen admitted that she loves reading to her grandchildren however she cannot mimic voices.
She then went on to reveal that the opposite is true for King Charles, who can fully immerse himself into the characters much to the delight of his step grandchildren.
The Queen said: “I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter…all the stories. I can’t mimic voices for love or money. I’m completely hopeless at it. I was a really bad actor at school and I’ve never been able to master the art of mimicry. But my husband, he does it brilliantly, he can do all the voices.”
This is the second time Her Majesty has spoken about the King’s talent when it comes to reading stories, as she had mentioned this before in a documentary to celebrate her husband’s 70th birthday, according to The Mirror.
In the programme, she spoke about the King’s bond with her grandchildren: “He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know, making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him.
“He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices, and I think children really appreciate that.”
As well as being close to his step grandchildren, the King also shares a loving bond with his own, especially Prince William’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
At royal events, the children’s love for their granddad is evident, with Prince Louis once seen rushing to sit on The King’s lap as they watched Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations outside Buckingham Palace.
The King also once spoke about his grandchildren’s love for Pokemon when earlier this year, the King and Queen Camilla welcomed the Emperor and Empress of Japan, Naruhito and his wife Masako Owada, to Buckingham Palace.
In his speech, when referring to his lack of skills at fly-fishing, the 75-year-old monarch said: “I am only sorry to report that I haven’t had any better luck with more recent attempts at fishing—the Pokémon phrase ‘gotta catch ’em all’ may resonate with my grandchildren, but for me it is, perhaps, aspirational.”
The King’s other grandchildren Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, live across the pond in America with the King’s son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with little-known about how close the monarch is with both these children.
