Emma Raducanu has been promised extra security if she plays in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The 22-year-old was seen in a state of distress during her defeat to Karolina Muchova in Dubai last week, having been the victim of ‘fixated behaviour’ from a man who was in the crowd.
The individual was detained by police in the United Arab Emirates and has since been given a restraining order.
After her match, Raducanu immediately flew back to the UK and is yet to confirm if she’ll take her place in the main draw of the tournament that gets underway next week.
According to the Telegraph, Raducanu will be recorded extra security guards, with the operation overseen by a former US Secret Service agent.
