On TikTok, GardenHomeMania has touted one “crucial” task you must do to encourage a bountiful display of peace lily flowers.
In the informative video, it is claimed that “adding phosphorous potassium fertiliser is crucial” to encourage a blooming peace lily.
Another note on fertiliser is that “you can apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate to the leaves” on a weekly basis.
Plant parents should, however, avoid prolonged use of nitrogen fertiliser, “which can promote leaf growth over flowers”.
Additional tips include adequate lighting, changing the potting soil mixture, and being in a warm room.
To elaborate, peace lilies can tolerate shady spaces, but they will “struggle to flower without adequate light over time.”
This is why it’s crucial to put the peace lily in an area where there is bright, indirect sunlight.
As for the soil mixture, “compacted soil restricts root growth”, which is why peace lilies should be repotted regularly in loose, slightly acidic soil.
