It’s been rumoured for months, and now Sky has finally revealed what’s coming next. The company has officially uncovered its new Glass (Gen 2) TV, which finally fixes one of the gripes many had with its original connected TV. That’s thanks to new Quantum Dot technology, which boosts the colour, contrast, and blacks. The first Glass TV did face some criticism for not have a crystal clear image but that seems to be sorted on this new model.
Sky also claims the viewing angles have been upgraded, so wherever you sit in the room, you should get a perfect picture.
It’s not just about the image. Tucked under the screen is a refreshed soundbar with 360-degree Dolby Atmos, which should offer far more immersive audio. There are seven speakers in total, with Sky promising richer bass and clear vocals. It’s also compatible with Dolby Atmos content for even better sound.
Voice control is still included for easy access to content and controls. Playlists get better with recordings stored in a more easily accessible space.
Simple setup is still a big feature of Sky Glass, with one cable powering the screen, in-built receiver and soundbar. Of course, like the original Glass Gen 2 is powered by the internet so there’s no need for a dish.
An improved stand also comes as standard with homes not even needing a screwdriver to get things up and running.
It will ship in three colours: volcanic grey, Arctic silver, and blue.
You can buy it from tomorrow in three sizes including 43-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch. Prices start from £14 per month.
