The UK is bracing for more wintery conditions with new weather maps showing an enormous 600-mile wall of snow set to cover the UK.
Maps show bitterly cold weather is set to sweep the UK on Feburary 18, sending temperatures plunging well below freezing in many areas.
But WXCharts has forecast a cold snap will return again on February 21 and 22, bringing with it snow, rain and plunging temperatures.
Snow will cover west Scotland (Fort William, Inverness, Glasgow, Dumfries), northwest England (Carlisle, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester), and parts of the midlands and southeast (Peterborough, Cambridge, Northampton, London, Brighton).
There could also be some small snow showers over the centre of the UK (Edinburgh, Leeds) and Wales (Cardiff, Conwy).
Rain will be following behind the snow, hitting the southeast of England (Ipswich, Colchester, Canterbury), Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), the west coast and Wales.
On February 22, the maps weather maps turn dark blue as a band of freezing air engulfs the whole of the UK.
Temperatures could plunge to as low as -4C in central Scotland at around midday and could struggle to get above freezing as far south as London.
The Met Office long-range forecast for February 14-23 says: “An easterly or south-easterly wind is likely, with cold and cloudy weather continuing at first, with the possibility of much colder conditions for a time.
“Atlantic low pressure however will inch closer to the UK, with fronts slowly moving towards southwestern parts. It is also possible that this might fall as snow initially as it runs into the cold air.
“Northeastern areas of the country will hold on to colder conditions for longer, and it is possible that the cold, cloudy easterly or south-easterly theme continues elsewhere.
“Eventually though it is thought that low pressure will push frontal bands of rain across much of the UK, with wind and rain becoming the dominant feature of the weather, but it’s currently uncertain exactly when any change will occur.”
