Mould can grow in the bathroom and kitchen, or be hidden in less obvious corners of your home, so dealing with it can be an ongoing battle.

Unfortunately, many traditional cleaning solutions only address the surface level of the problem, allowing the mould to return.

However, according to one expert, there is a non-toxic way to not only tackle the mould issue head-on but also prevent it from coming back.

Brain Toward, home improvement expert and CEO of bathroom retailer Wholesale Domestic, offered a simple yet highly effective solution that’s also completely natural.

He explained: “Mix a teaspoon of tea tree oil with a cup of water in a spray bottle. Shake well, spray onto the mould and leave it to dry naturally.

“Tea tree oil not only kills mould but also prevents regrowth because of its antifungal properties.”

This easy-to-follow method not only eradicates the existing mould but also helps to stop it from reappearing, providing a long-term solution for a cleaner, healthier home.

When it comes to mould found on silicone sealant around showers, baths and sinks, there is another simple and natural solution.

Adriana Aziz, an expert from Maid For You, has shared that most mouldy sealants can be cleaned using simple white vinegar you likely already have in your kitchen.

Adriana said: “Spray the full-strength vinegar over the entire line of sealant regardless of whether there is visible mould or not.

“Allow it to sit for a few minutes before you try to wipe the mould off with a clean cloth.”

White vinegar contains acetic acid, which acts as a natural disinfectant that kills any pesky mould spores that may be growing.

Vinegar can also deeply penetrate the silicone to remove hidden mould spores – plus, white vinegar is a gentle product that is much less likely to cause any damage compared to stronger cleaning agents.

Adriana added: “It is advisable to begin with a natural approach to removing mould from your silicone sealant.

“Additionally, it is relatively inexpensive and eco-friendly.”
