Amazon is offering a mega discount on the 2024 model Apple MacBook Air, cutting a hefty £150 off its original price. The laptop is now available for £849 – down from the usual £999 – as part of a time-limited offer.
According to price tracker camelcamelcamel, this is the lowest price ever offered for the laptop – undercutting Apple’s own price tag of £999 – although Amazon has not confirmed when this limited time deal will end. Other retailers including Argos and Currys have matched Amazon’s discounted price across all three colour options: midnight, space grey and starlight.
The compact MacBook Air weighs 1.24kg and is powered by Apple’s M2 chip, which the company claims enables users to ‘get more done faster’. It also features a powerful battery capable of delivering up to 18 hours of use on a single charge, reports MyLondon.
The device comes equipped with a 13.6” Liquid Retina Display, 256GB of storage, a 1080p camera, and Spatial Audio. In terms of connectivity, it offers a MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt ports, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
The 2024 MacBook Air has garnered an impressive 4.7-star rating after 1,079 reviews. One satisfied shopper said: “One of my favourite all-time laptops and a pleasure to use. The keyboard is my favourite: light touch, sensitive and responsive with absolutely no noticeable lag.
“The screen is amazing; sharp, bright and does not cause any eye strain, while the battery lasts quite long. The only feature I miss is the touch bar. So far I haven’t experienced any noticeable performance degradation even though this has 8GB RAM compared to my other MacBook, however I do recommend the 16GB variant rather than the 8GB for ‘future-proof’ because the memory is unified (cannot be upgraded). Amazing laptop.”
Another said: “Decided to upgrade and have no regrets. Super fast and perfect for what I need it for. Like night and day from my old Mac. Loving it. Highly recommend.”
A third rave review said: “I ordered the midnight black version and it looks very sleek and classy. In terms of functionality, it’s absolutely wonderful and perfect for my studies and work. The price is really worth all the things I’m getting from this laptop.”
However, others were less impressed with their MacBook Air, as one disappointed customer said: “The screen of these laptops are horrible. My eyes tear up and I lose focus immediately. The hinge also makes a popping/grating sound. Will be returning and looking to get an IPS, high frequency matte panel where I can actually read text without feeling the need to throw up.”
For those weighing their options, a suitable alternative to Apple devices might be the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge, which could appeal to Windows users. It is currently available at a discounted price of £519 from Currys, saving £330 on the original price.
Another option among Windows devices is the HP Chromebook 15a-nb0502sa, discounted from £479 to £329.99 at Debenhams.
