Nintendo Switch 2 update will make Xbox fans very happy

Microsoft’s expansion into third-party publishing will continue with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Xbox platform holder began porting games to other consoles with the release of titles like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush in 2024.

Microsoft has followed this up in 2025, announcing plans to bring the superb Forza Horizon 5 to PS5 this spring.

With the new console launching this summer, Microsoft also has great news for Nintendo Switch 2 fans.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed the news in an interview Gamertag Radio (via TheGamer), telling listeners that the company will support the Nintendo Switch 2 “with the games that we have”.

Speaking about Nintendo and the Switch 2, Spencer said: “I just always applaud the moves that they make. I know we’ll get more detail over time.

“Really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have.”

With Forza Horizon 5 already on Steam Deck and coming to PS5, don’t be surprised if the open-world racing game also comes to Nintendo Switch 2.

Other reports suggest games like Starfield, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Halo The Master Chief Collection are also planned for Nintendo Switch 2.

With the Switch 2 JoyCons seemingly suited to first-person shooters thanks to the mouse function, any kind of Halo port would be incredible.

It would also massively increase the pool for online multiplayer games, especially if it’s cross-platform.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the current model, featuring a bigger screen and JoyCons.

The JoyCons will reportedly utilise technology to eliminate stick drift, as well as magnets for connecting to the display.

The kickstand is also more flexible, giving users more viewing angles when playing in handheld mode.

We’ll find out more about the console and games when Nintendo holds a Switch 2 Direct on April 2.

Speaking of games, it looks like Mario Kart 9 is in development for Switch 2, and expect Metroid Prime 4 to release as a cross-gen title with the original Switch.
