If you’re craving a romantic getaway with your partner, there are few places more romantic than Italy – and one city in particular is perfect for a couple’s holiday.
Leading Italian tour operator Citalia reports 81% of their 2025 bookings come from couples’ holidays so head of product Heather Green has shared her top romantic Italian getaways – and Florence is a firm favourite.

Florence, the capital of Italy’s Tuscan region, is a city packed with culture. From its cobbled streets to its glamorous gardens and exclusive rooftop bars the city has something to offer for every couple.

Florence is also home to some of the most famous artworks in the world, like Michaelangelo’s David and Bottecelli’s The Birth of Venus, both of which are housed in the incredible Uffizi Gallery.
It’s also one of the most walkable spots on the world map, according to data from Insider Monkey last year.
A recent list revealed that the quintessentially romantic destination earned the top spot due to its five main attractions all being located within half a mile of each other.
The entire historic centre of the city is a designated UNESCO site, housing fascinating attractions; the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza del Duomo, and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
All are within 0.5 miles of each other, making it possible to wander through the quaint, winding passageways in a mere 10 minutes.
