An epic bridge in Asia’s richest country offers stunning city views more as is more than 100 feet tall.

Singapore’s Henderson Waves Bridge is a vast structure connecting Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park in the country’s Southern Ridges, a 6.2-mile trail in the south of the city-state.

Bridges within the trail connect parks located on along the ridge, with one trail running between the Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill, and Kent Ridge parks as well as Labrador Nature Reserve, as per Atlas Obscura.

Three linkways were built by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, at a total cost of S$25.5 million (around £13.4million), according to Architectuul.

Henderson Waves, which opened in 2008, is thought to be the most spectacular among them, spanning some 899 feet and rising as high as 118 feet on Henderson Road, and is the tallest pedestrian bridge in the country.

Visitors may be drawn to its undulating, wave-like curves that while visually striking also make it a great place to take in the scenery.

The “wave” shapes of its curvaceous shape were designed to provide seating areas for visitors to relax, and also creates shaded areas from which to enjoy the view during the day.

The bridge was constructed using balau wood (a dense hardwood), as well as steel and reinforced concrete.

Unsurprisingly is a popular spot for joggers, and photographers, providing a superb vantage point for the cityspace that surrounds it, as well as lush greenery and the southern coastline.

Nature lovers can also encounter local wildlife in the surrounding parks which provide habitats for various bird species and other animals.

One TripAdvisor reviewer who wrote about their visit to the bridge in 2022 was amazed by its construction: “We went there just before sunset, around 7pm in August, and we witnessed the setting sun with the city view below it.

“It was a magnificent experience. The wave design of the bridge was unique and a work of genius.”

Another visitor said the “eye-catching” bridge “perfectly connects Mount Faber Park with Telok Blangah Hill Park for a seamless walk along the Southern Ridges”.

“This area offers great views of both downtown and Sentosa Island from amidst some lovely greenery,” they added.
