Nintendo Switch OLED prices are dropping fast as new console expected to drop

The Nintendo Switch 2 is said to be announced anytime today as the newest console in the gaming giant’s fleet. While nothing has been announced, just yet, all anticipation points to today, January 16 – but it’s not the only update.

As some fans eagerly await the news it appears retailers are making moves and cutting the prices of the older Nintendo Switch OLED models, which are ideal for shoppers who won’t be interested in snapping up the newest device.

Amazon is selling the Nintendo Switch OLED for £267 on the website which isn’t the cheapest price we’ve seen but cheaper than most other retailers like Argos and other stores. It’s worth noting these prices could drop dramatically when the Switch 2 is announced so keep an eye on prices.

Despite Switch 2 launch rumours swirling for a while, more than 900 Amazon shoppers have chosen to buy the cheaper deal. Especially a handful of customers who recommend the model for ‘first time Switch users’.

The Nintendo Switch OLED is the best way to make your games look gorgeous thanks to the vibrant 7-inch OLED screen. You’ll also be able to get to play all those games you can’t play anywhere else including Mario Party, Animal Crossing and much more.

And as our gaming editor Liam Martin mentioned Nintendo will reportably announce the console on January 16 – but all is quiet so far.

Nintendo has announced that a new console is coming that is supposed to be coming within the fiscal year which means that it could be announced from today up until March 2025. However, the surlous of leaks have indicated that today should be the day that the console will land.

There have been many console leaks showing a possible bigger screen, bigger battery and better internal hardware that will allow for more games to be played on the console.

Other rumours claim that more third-party games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth may make their way to the Switch 2 thanks to the new hardware – but again, until Nintendo presses that magic button, it’s all speculation until now.

Meanwhile, if you want to look elsewhere for a new Switch console, there are some absolutely amazing bundles that you can grab right now. The Game Collection has a brilliant Switch Sports bundle which comes with the console, a HORI controller, travel kit, headphones and Nintendo Switch Sports on the console for £280.

Of course, it goes without saying that the soon-to-be Nintendo Switch OLED models will miss out on potential new features that come with the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 launch – but, we seem to have a little longer to wait to find out what these are.
