Spotting patches of mould around your home can be really disheartening, as it can be tricky to remove it and banish it for good.

If left untreated, mould can be really dangerous and can cause issues with the airways, lungs, eyes, and skin. You may experience symptoms like sneezing more often, getting a runny and sniffly nose, and watery eyes – and this may all be down to mould.

So, if you’ve spotted it in your home, what’s next? Well, @daddybrownn said he was going to show a “simple” yet “super effective” way to get rid of mould “without using any chemicals whatsoever,” – so it’s time to ditch those mould-banishing sprays.

He even claimed that his method would “stop mould growing” in your home. So how do you do it?

“Also, I’m gonna show you how to prevent mould from growing there in the future,” he shared, saying: “The only thing you need is baking soda and water”.

He then explained how to do it, saying: “Gonna get some kind of bowl or dish, whatever you want, and you’re gonna pour some baking soda in there.

“And then you’re just gonna add a tiny bit of water to create a paste. You’re gonna wanna make enough to cover the entire area that’s affected by mould.”

He then showed the camera the thick, gloopy paste that he’d created, saying that once your paste looks like this, “you’re gonna go ahead and put on a glove and rub it all over the mould”.

Once you’ve rubbed it into the affected area, you need to “let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes” while it works its magic.

He explained: “Baking soda is going to absorb all the moisture that is causing the mould in the first place. Also, mould needs acidic conditions to grow, and the pH of baking soda is high, which is going to kill the mould.

“Also, the baking soda is going to remove the stains and the odours that are associated with mould.”

After you’ve waited 15 to 20 minutes, “you’re gonna go ahead and wipe that off” according to the content creator.

Now, you’re going to “prevent mould from coming back in the future” you’re going to “make a solution using baking soda and water”.

“But you’re just gonna fill the spray bottle up with water and pour a little bit of baking soda in there and shake it up so it dissolves”, he shared, saying that the amount you put in “doesn’t really matter”.

He explained that you need to spray the solution all over the walls, “wherever there was mould,” and it will “leave a little bit of baking soda residue behind,” but he said this is “what you want” as it will “prevent mould from growing there again”.

We’d recommend doing a patch test on your wall to check the solution doesn’t impact your paint job. If successful, you can then apply the solution to a wider area.

So will you be giving the life hack a go? It sounds simple enough, so could definitely be orth a try.
