Cleaning the toilet is often regarded as one of the most dreaded household tasks, which also means it tends to be left for last.

However, with the right technique and a natural and affordable concoction, it can be much easier than it appears.

Experts from the cleaning brand method recommend a great tip for removing tough toilet stains with minimal fuss.

Begin by combining vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda to create a potent solution that acts as an initial treatment during a thorough cleaning.

After letting it sit for a few minutes, wipe it down with warm water and let it dry before proceeding with the deep clean.

Next, spray the handle, lid, and base of the toilet, paying special attention to those hard-to-reach areas behind the toilet where dust and dirt tend to accumulate.

Use a microfibre cloth to wipe everything down, ensuring a shiny and fresh-smelling surface.

At this point, your toilet bowl will be ready for the final cleaning step that ensures the whole deep-clean comes together nicely.

Take your toilet brush and scrub the bowl thoroughly, focusing on the area beneath the rim where grime often builds up.

Flush to rinse away the residue, and there you have it: You’ve successfully tackled the toilet cleaning.

Many households in the UK face the problem of limescale buildup in their toilet bowls, often appearing as brown stains.

One frustrated mother, tired of the persistent limescale clinging to the rim of her toilet, turned to the internet for help, explaining she had already soaked it with Toilet Duck and used a spray-on limescale remover, but nothing worked.

Responses poured in, and a common solution emerged that didn’t involve harsh chemicals or strenuous scrubbing. A fellow user recommended: “I’d try soaking some loo roll in white vinegar, wedging it in there and leaving it overnight.”

People agreed, with another adding: “Soak wedges of loo roll in vinegar or lemon juice and push into the rim.

“Leave overnight. The next day, run around the rim with an old spoon to remove softened limescale. Repeat as required.”

Distilled white vinegar, which is likely already in your kitchen, is an affordable and effective option, available for around £1.19 at Wilko and £2 at Ocado.
