The latest travel trends for the upcoming year have been revealed. These include choosing a destination based on a favourite TV show or returning to a place from one’s childhood.

Brits are gearing up to spend more money than they have in previous years, with the majority of holidaymakers keen to discover places they’ve never visited before.

Over two thirds are planning to trade their usual European holiday spot for somewhere more exotic, such as Egypt, Tunisia or Turkey, in search of affordable luxury.

It appears that Gen Z and Millennials are the most eager to visit as many countries as possible during their travels (53%), compared to a mere 17% of Boomers.

This research was conducted by airline easyJet and package holiday firm easyJet holidays as part of ‘The Great British Holiday Audit’.

Holly Rubenstein, co-author of the report, journalist and creator of The Travel Diaries podcast, commented: “It’s clear that holidays and travel are now a non-negotiable for many households and discovering new and exciting places is firmly on the horizon for 2025.”

She further added:”Holidaymakers are determined to see more, experience more and share more not just on their social media feeds but together in real life.”

While the classic beach break remains the most popular holiday choice, Brits also planning to ‘holiday hop’ by arriving in one location and leaving from another.

Additionally, multigenerational holidays are on the rise, as 30% are considering holidays that mean there is something for everyone – including the Grandparents.

Interestingly, over two thirds of Gen Z and Millennials are tailoring their holidays around their favourite physical activities. But this seems to be a trend across all ages as a significant 38% of all those surveyed are opting for holidays where they can run, cycle, and hike.

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, commented: “We are always responding to new trends to ensure we offer what our customers are looking for, with many of those uncovered in our new travel report also coming through in customer behaviour.”

Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays, concluded: “Whether they want to fly and flop, discover a new city, travel solo or with extended family, we’re pleased to see the top 2025 trends, evidenced by our Great British Holiday Audit, mean we will continue to deliver for our customers in 2025 and beyond’.”
